End-of-Life Care Program Supporting Research
Oregon Body Gift provides free euthanasia and cremation services when you donate your dog's body to advance biomedical research. Located in Salem, we serve dog owners in the local area.
What We Offer
- Free euthanasia services at our facility performed by a licensed veterinarian
- Free cremation with optional return of ashes
- Local transportation assistance if needed
- Respectful, dignified handling
- Opportunity to contribute to research, primarily in neuroscience
Two Ways to Participate
1. At Our Salem Facility: Choose our free euthanasia services performed by a licensed professional at our Salem location. This requires scheduling in advance. We will also cover the costs of cremation.
2. With Your Own Veterinarian: Work with your own vet for end-of-life care, and we will coordinate the donation afterward. We offer transportation assistance for local donations if needed as well as free cremation services.
Program Requirements
To participate in our program:
- Donations must be scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 1 PM
- Euthanasia must be performed by a licensed professional
- Services are available at our facility or through your veterinarian
Why Choose Dog Donation?
Your donation supports biomedical research, primarily in neuroscience, that may lead to a better understanding of brain disorders and treatments. It is a meaningful way to honor your dog's memory while contributing to scientific advancement. We ensure all donations are handled with respect and used exclusively for research purposes.
What Happens After the Donation?
Donors have our deep appreciation for your generous gift. For more information about our research, please contact us. If you wish, we are happy to return to you the cremated remains of tissues not used for research. This process typically takes several weeks.
