Welcome to Our Dog Donation Program
At Oregon Body Gift, we extend our research efforts to include our beloved canine companions through our Canine Brain Bank. This program allows dog owners who live in Salem and nearby areas to donate their pet's body for neuroscience medical research, contributing to research that may help advance science.
Why Donate?
Donating your dog's body supports our research efforts, primarily enabling neuroscience research that may lead to better diagnosis and treatment. It's a way to honor your dog's legacy by contributing to the welfare of future generations.
What We Offer
If you choose to donate your dog's body to our organization, we provide:
- A respectful and dignified handling of your dog's remains.
- Free cremation and return of ashes upon request.
- Assurance that your dog's contribution will be valued and used for research purposes only.
How to Donate
Please follow these steps to donate your dog's body to Oregon Body Gift:
1: For more information, please read our Dog Donation Guide, which includes the current eligibility criteria for donation.
Most importantly, to be eligible for our program, donated dogs must be euthanized by a licensed professional. This also needs to be performed during regular working hours from Monday to Friday, so that we will be available to accept the donation. This ensures the integrity of the tissue for our research and assists with staff safety. We understand that this can be a difficult and emotional decision, and we are here to help answer any questions you may have about the donation process.
